Getting started

Setup is a short conversation with SB, the face on the screen. It asks for one thing at a time, and your number comes last.

Get the app

ScrollBuddy runs on iPhone, iOS 26 and later. The iPhone app that signs in and works with your agent is in testing, and so is Android. The App Store has the earlier app, which locks apps on its own. To start now, get the earlier app on the App Store; the new app comes with your spot. This page walks through the new app, on iPhone and Android.

1. The greeting

SB says “I’m SB.” and asks “What should I call you?” Your name stays on your phone. You can leave it empty.

2. The deal

Three lines: “Say what you want to win today.” “Finish it.” “Earn credits. Spend them on screen time.” Then the page turns to a month, because “Every win you finish stays here.” Tap Show me.

3. The lock and its permissions

On iPhone, SB says “I lock the apps you pick; iPhone asks you to let me.” Tap Choose the apps, then Continue in the Screen Time dialog, then pick the apps that take the most from you. Nobody else ever sees the list, us included: Apple never shows it to ScrollBuddy.

Then “I knock when a win pays out.” Tap Allow notifications, then Allow.

On Android the lock needs three switches, sometimes four, each on its own screen:

  • Notifications, so SB can knock when a win pays out.
  • Usage access, so SB can see when a picked app opens. Tap Open settings, switch it on, come back.
  • Display over other apps, so SB can stand in front of a picked app. Find ScrollBuddy in the list and switch it on.
  • On some phones a fourth: running in the background while the phone saves battery.

Then pick the apps from the list. Said no to a permission? Nothing can stay shut until you allow it; the gear on the page can fix that later.

4. The dial

“When you say a win is done, how much should it take?” Pick Easy, Normal or Strict and tap That’s me. Each level is spelled out on proof. The gear can change it later.

5. Plan with your agent

“Plan with your agent. Connect it once and it names today’s wins with you.” Pick your host for its one step and the thing to copy, then tap It’s connected. The full steps per host are on your agent.

No agent? Tap Write today’s three wins and name them yourself.

6. Your number, last

“Tell me your number and I can plan the day with you.” One code on WhatsApp, and nobody else ever sees the number. Tap Connect, or Not now.

Your number is what ties you together across surfaces. With it:

  • A connected agent and your phone share one page: wins your agent names show up on the phone, and wins you finish reach your agent.
  • Your credits are kept with your number, so a new phone signed in with it starts with your balance.
  • Your agent signs in with the same number and a code.

Without it the phone works on its own and everything stays on the phone. You can connect later from the gear.

Day 1

Then the page reads Day 1, starts now. The apps you picked are shut until you finish a win and spend what it earned. Next: wins.
